Have a boyfriend, weβre both in our mid-20s and have been dating for most of the year. Heβs my first love, so gentle to me, and I truly love what weβre building together.
I noticed a few months ago when we were in the middle of doggy that I was smellingβ¦unwashed ass. And when we were moving positions I could confirm it was him, because I came near his rear end and could smell fecal residue stronger. Not trying to paint him as gross. I love him and heβs pretty hygienic otherwise. He also has a thing where he canβt smell, so I wanna give him the benefit of the doubt since he canβt βsmell-checkβ himself like I can. But the smell was bad/distracting enough that I brought it up gently after we finished sex. He was embarrassed, apologized profusely and promised to do better. In the wake of that, heβs been fairly good at showering thoroughly right before sex to prevent any unwanted smells.
Itβs probably only happened two times since then that during foreplay I had to remind him to shower, or when he was trying to initiate and I could smell through his shorts that he needed to freshen up before clothes even came off.
Itβs been a few weeks since I had to mention him smelling a bit unsavory. Today we had sex and while I didnβt smell anything, I noticed when he got up there was a small skid mark where he was laying down. Is it worth bringing up in case he still isnβt thoroughly washing? Or should I let it go as a one-off that in a long-term relationship itβs inevitable that your partner will have hygiene slip-ups from time to time?
I donβt want to make him insecure/make him scared that every time we have sex his butt will smell bad, but I donβt want it to keep happening. Hygiene is really big for me, and bad smells can really take me out of sex/get in the way of me getting turned on in the future.
TLDR: Not sure if my boyfriend has the best anal hygiene. Smells kept coming up during/before sex. Now there was a small skid mark on my sheets. Iβve brought up hygiene, but is it worth bringing up again? Or should I write this incident off as a one-off and save him the insecurity/awkwardness?
