Pump vs clamp(vs both?)

Title is pretty self explanatory. I’m just getting into PE and looking to add girth as effectively(and safely) as possible. I know hard clamping isn’t recommended for beginners from what I’ve seen and to be frank I don’t have a ton of interest in it anyway as I don’t want to damage my guy. So I’m really looking at pumping(water or air, I don’t know which is better), soft clamping, or any other method/combination of methods you guys have found most effective for girth. Just curious to know what some of you who made actual girth gains find most effective for it, I’m okay with where I’m at length wise, though I guess a little extra wouldn’t hurt, but the main priority is certainly packing on some girth.
