How do I even know if I’m doing it correctly?

I’ve bought an apex extender I’ve also been using the taping method however I’m not sure if I’m using it correctly. I feel no stretch. Am I suppose to? I do know there is tension from the scales on the extender. Also any other tips on how to use it effectively. Ive done it 3 days in a row now for about 15-20 mins. I know it’s not much but im just trying to ease into before I hurt myself in the beginning process. Please if anyone has any tips let me know
