A federal grand jury indicted a man from Rhode Island for threatening to kill President Donald Trump. The man also vowed to kill or injure U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, authorities claimed.

Carl D. Montague is facing charges of making threats against the president and interstate communications of threats, announced Sara Miron Bloom, acting U.S. attorney for the District of Rhode Island. An FBI affidavit stated that Montague posted a profanity-laced message on Trumpβs Truth Social social media platform in June that read, βItβs a shame you wonβt get to see the end of your flβ**** term, because Iβm gonna make sure I put a bullet
between your flβ***** head you piece of s***, you Pam Bondi. Stephen flβ***** Miller, all you b******, are gonna get a flβ***** bullet to the [β¦] every single flβ***** one of you.β

After Truth Socialβs parent company, Trump Media and Technology, alerted the Secret Service to the comment, federal investigators linked the account behind the post to an email address associated with Montague and a Providence, R.I., residence tied to a nonprofit housing program for people who were formerly incarcerated. According to the affidavit, authorities found Montague at the apartment of an acquaintance. The federal complaint doesnβt list any prior convictions.

In an affidavit, FBI Special Agent Ciara Corbett wrote that Montague βstated he was smoking a lot of marijuana when he posted the threat.β He also told investigators he βdeleted his Truth Social account after sending the message.β According to Agent Corbett, Montague indicated he βwas upset with current politics and expressed his frustrations via Truth Social.β He also told investigators he βdid not have any intentions of shooting or inflicting any violenceβ and βdoes not own or have access to any weapons,β legal documents show. Reports indicate Montague could face up to five years in prison for threatening the president, with additional penalties possible for related charges.

That shooter was killed by law enforcement. Two months later in September 2024, another man was arrested after a Secret Service agent allegedly spotted him aiming a rifle through shrubs as the president played golf at his Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Fla.
