'''Allama Shafqat Abbas Mutahari Solangi''' (died 2014) was a Pakistani Shia Islamic cleric known for his religious scholarship and community leadership in Sindh, Pakistan. He was tragically assassinated near Khanpur, Sindh, in an incident that garnered national attention and was widely condemned as a sectarian killing.
----

== Early Life and Background ==
Allama Shafqat Abbas Mutahari Solangi belonged to the Solangi community of Sindh. He was a prominent Shia scholar who played an active role in promoting interfaith harmony and was respected among both Shia and Sunni circles in rural Sindh.
----

== Assassination ==
On an unspecified date in 2014, Allama Solangi was shot dead near Khanpur while returning home after visiting Shikarpur. The assailants, riding a motorcycle, ambushed his vehicle on the Indus Highway. The attack was initially reported as a sectarian incident, and the case was registered at the Khanpur police station on the complaint of Syed Mohammad Kazmi, another Shia cleric.

Four individuals were named in the First Information Report (FIR):

* Akram Mo’aavia Arain
* Asghar Arain
* Ghulam Mustafa Shar
* Maulana Ubedullah Brohi

----

== Jirga Ruling ==
Two years after the murder, in December 2016, a tribal jirga (customary court) was convened in the village of Mohammad Alam Solangi near Ranipur to resolve the matter. The jirga was presided over by former Member of the National Assembly (MNA), '''Dr. Ibrahim Jatoi'''.

Based on community testimonies and deliberations, the jirga held the Shar and Arain communities responsible for the murder. The following penalties were imposed:

* '''Rs. 2 million''' as increased compensation due to the victim's status as a cleric.
* '''Rs. 1 million''' additional fine for an unprovoked killing.
* '''Rs. 250,000''' to cover the costs of investigation and trial.

In total, '''Rs. 3.25 million''' was levied as compensation to the victim's family. A third suspect, believed to be from the Brohi community, was yet to be tried at the time of the report.
----

== Legacy ==
Allama Solangi’s death highlighted the continuing threat of sectarian violence in Pakistan. His assassination and the subsequent jirga ruling sparked discussions on parallel justice systems, sectarian tolerance, and the effectiveness of tribal courts in dispensing justice in rural Pakistan.
