UDM party expels two Isiolo MCAs over misconduct, disloyalty

The United Democratic Movement (UDM) on Wednesday expelled two nominated Members of the County Assembly of Isiolo, Fozia Jibril and Amina Omar.

The expulsion follows findings of gross misconduct, disregard for party summons and non-payment of party contributions contrary to the UDM constitution and code of conduct.

Speaker Mohammed Roba announced the decision received from the party in a letter dated July 14, 2025, confirming the expulsion of the two Members of the County Assembly (MCAs).

According to the party, Fozia failed to honour summons to appear before the disciplinary committee and failed to pay a fine of Ksh.500,000.

‘‘The National Executive Committee proceeded under the 2024 UDM Disciplinary Committee Rules, and the expulsions take immediate effect,’’ the letter reads in part.

The speaker acknowledged the communication, directing immediate action in accordance with the Standing Orders and legal framework.

The two were part of the 5 MCAs who met governor Guyo recently, after their failed impeachment attempt.

Additionally, the Assembly received communication from the Kenya Kwanza and Azimio coalitions concerning the majority and minority leadership changes.

Francisco Letimalo of KANU was de-whipped from the leader of minority party and replaced by Cherab ward MCA Halima Abgudo also of the KANU party.

Oldonyiro ward MCA and Deputy Speaker David Lemantile of KANU was also removed from the House Business Rules and Privileges Committee and replaced by Wabera ward MCA Salesio Kiambi.

The current composition of the Committee now includes; the speaker, Mohamed Roba Koto as the chairperson, Abubakar Abdi Godana – Leader of Majority Party, Halima Golle Agbudo – Leader of Minority party with Nicholas Lorot and Salesio Kiambi as members.

The house adjourned until July 29, 2025, following a motion moved by Hon. Nicholas Lorot, to allow for urgent renovation works on the Assembly chambers that were vandalized by goons on  June 26, 2025.
