Tusker FC has officially announced the departure of nine players as the club begins reshaping its squad ahead of the new season.
The players exiting the Ruaraka-based side include John Byamukama, James Kibande, Luke Namanda, David Odoyo, Boban Zirintusa, Deogratious Ojok, Mike Oduor, and Lawrence Luvanda, all of whom leave following the expiry of their contracts.
Additionally, defender Yussuf Mainge will also part ways with the club as his season-long loan deal from Police FC comes to an end.
In a statement, Tusker FC Chief Executive Officer Sam Nzau thanked the players for their dedication and contributions during their time at the club.
“We thank each of them for their service, commitment, and contributions during their time at Ruaraka. Their efforts have been integral to the team, both on and off the pitch, and they leave with our sincere gratitude,” Nzau said.
“As they embark on the next chapter of their professional journeys, we wish them the very best in their future endeavors. “He further added
Ojok, who joined Tusker FC in 2021 from Uganda Premier League side BUL FC, initially signed a two-year deal before extending his stay for another season.
Despite his contributions, the club had not initiated talks for a contract extension, marking the end of his time with the Brewers.
Tusker FC’s decision to release the players comes on the back of a mixed season, where the team finished 4th in the FKF Premier League.
The club ended the campaign with 15 wins, 12 draws, and 7 losses from 34 matches, scoring 41 goals while conceding 36, finishing with 57 points,8 behind champions Police.
The Brewers’ recent form also reflected inconsistencies, closing the season with one win, two losses, and two draws in their last five matches.
As the new season approaches, Tusker FC is expected to make further squad adjustments as they seek to bounce back stronger in the upcoming campaign.
