A Ukrainian sniper unit has broken the world record for the longest confirmed sniper hit, taking out Russian troops from more than 13,000 feet away.

The Kyiv Post reported Ukrainian forces used a 14.5 mm Alligator rifle to eliminate two Russian soldiers near Pokrovsk, Ukraine. The record-setting hit was carried out β€œusing artificial intelligence under the guidance of [an unmanned aerial vehicle] complex with a 14.5 mm alligator rifle,” claimed military journalist Yuri Butusov.

The strike occurred amid intensified Russian assaults around Pokrovsk β€” once a city of more than 60,000 people. The outlet noted that the previous record was held by a 58-year-old Ukrainian. The sniper reportedly hit a target from roughly 12,400 feet.

Putin called the talks β€œconstructive.” (MEGA)

The event reportedly happened just before President Donald Trump’s summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin. At their joint press conference, Putin described the talks as taking place in a β€œconstructive atmosphere of mutual respect.”

Meeting with Zelensky​

After his meeting with Putin, President Trump also sat down with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House. Trump called it β€œa very good, early step” toward ending the war at the time. β€œIt was a long and detailed conversation, including discussions about the situation on the battlefield and our steps to bring peace closer,” Zelensky said. So far, no peace agreement has been reached.
