Insolvo makes it easy to find talented freelancers for almost any online task. This guide will walk you through the essentials — from posting your first task to completing a project smoothly.

1. Posting a Task

  • Describe clearly what you need: goal, scope, deadline.
  • Keep it specific: clear instructions = better results.
  • Set a fair price — you can negotiate with freelancers later.
  • Use deadlines & milestones: add an earlier “redline” to review work before the final delivery.

👉 Tip: Large projects work best if you split them into smaller tasks. That way you can try different freelancers and continue privately with the ones you like.

Which Tasks Cannot Be Posted
Prohibited tasks include those that break the law, involve off-site payments, lack clear work scope, require investments or payment data, depend on third parties, involve money transfers, cause harm, or deal with buying/renting accounts. Such tasks may be removed, and users will be banned without notice.

The full list of tasks that are not allowed on the website is specified in the special Rules section.

Examples of Tasks You Can Post
You can post basically any task that can be completed online. We have prepared some convenient examples for your reference. As you can see, some of the tasks you can post on Insolvo include (but are not limited to):

  • writing texts—from blog posts to policy documents and beyond;
  • performing translations;
  • writing code and programming in general;
  • performing research;
  • recording videos and audios;
  • processing photos and videos;
  • copy-pasting, typing, and other monotonous work.
How to Post a Task
You can easily post your task at any time by clicking the Post a Task button. You can also add a new task in the Tasks tab.

Additional Services
While posting a task, you may use some additional services that Insolvo offers:

  • Label the task as "Urgent" to make more freelancers see and respond to your task.
  • Pin the task to the Top. This option will keep your task at the top of the task feed, making sure that more freelancers see it.
  • For freelancers with a verified passport. Only the freelancers who verified their identity will be able to reply to your task.

2. Choosing a Freelancer

  • Open the chat with candidates and ask about their experience.
  • Review their profile, ratings, and portfolio.
  • Don’t rush: you can reject candidates until you find the right fit.
  • When ready, click Appoint to start working.
Working with Freelancers
  • In the Task chat, you’ll see only the first three candidates at a time.
  • Take your time: chat with them, ask about experience, and how they plan to approach your project.
  • Not the right fit? Click Reject so other freelancers can apply.
  • When you find the right freelancer, click Appoint to start the task. After rejecting someone, the next candidates will automatically become available in the chat.

How likes/dislikes affect your experience
They filter your experience. If you dislike a freelancer, they won’t see your tasks again — and you will not see them among the candidates.

3. Communication

  • Use Task Chat for all messages and file sharing.
  • Voice messages and quick replies are available.
  • For your safety, keep all important communication inside Insolvo — this ensures support can help if issues arise.
Communicating with Freelancers
The safest way to communicate is through the task сhat on Insolvo.

Sharing contact details is not allowed before the task starts or after it’s completed. Even during the task, off-platform communication carries risks—support can only help if everything stays inside Insolvo.

Task chat features:

  • Text and voice messages
  • File sharing
  • Quick responses (create templates for faster replies)
What to do if a freelancer does not respond
If they don’t respond for 24 hours, you can escalate the task to Disputes.

4. Payment & Safety

  • When posting a task, deposit the budget to your Insolvo account.
  • Funds are held securely until you approve the freelancer’s work.
  • You can always increase the budget or deadline if needed.
  • After completion, consider tipping freelancers who did great work.
Paying for the Task
Once you post the task, the system will always require you to deposit to your Insolvo account the sum that equals the price you have set for your task. It does not mean that you are paying upfront, as the money you deposit stays on your Insolvo account until you approve the task's completion at the very end. You will only be able to chat with freelancers after you deposit the sum equal to the price of your task. This is done to make sure that you can pay the freelancer if you are satisfied with their work.

5. Completing a Task

  • Approve the task when you’re satisfied with the results.
  • Leave honest feedback — it helps other buyers and freelancers.
  • If something goes wrong:
    • Mutual cancellation lets you and the freelancer agree on how to split the funds.
    • Dispute is available if no agreement is reached; Insolvo support will make a decision based on the chat history.
How to Complete the Task
To complete the task, you simply click the Approve the Task button. The system will ask you to confirm that you are ready to approve the task.

What Is a Mutual Cancellation?
Sometimes, a task cannot be completed for some reason. In that case, we recommend that you try to negotiate a mutual cancellation. This means that you and the freelancer agree to end the task and decide how to divide the funds. The split does not have to be even; you can take all the money or give some or all of it to the freelancer. Discuss the situation with the freelancer and try to come to an agreement.

What Is a Dispute?
If no agreement can be reached, you can escalate the task to Disputes. The Disputes Department will review all communication and details in the task chat and make a decision about the task’s completion and funds distribution.

⚠️ All Dispute Department decisions are final. Whenever possible, try a mutual cancellation first before opening a dispute.

How Do I Get My Money Back?
To request a refund, please contact our support team. Please note that all your tasks must be partially paid or cancelled for the refund to be processed. In other words, you need to close all your active tasks. You can do that by using mutual cancellations or disputes. Additionally, make sure to delete any tasks that don’t yet have a freelancer assigned.

6. Tips for Success

  • Be detailed and realistic in your task descriptions.
  • Use deadlines and redlines to stay on track.
  • Communicate openly but stay within the platform for safety.
  • Learn from feedback and build long-term relationships with good freelancers.
