Stop Creating Expectations for Your Gains

Seriously. It's only making things worse for you.

I want to be very clear. Goals and Expectations are two very different things.

A goal is what you are working toward. It's aspirational.
Ex. "I want to gain an inch in length"

An expectation is a belief you deserve something as a result of your actions.
Ex. "I'm copying Dickpushups routine, so I am expecting to gain an inch in 6 months"

Expectations are just entitlement.
And in PE, you aren't entitled to shit.

Most the expectations I see guys making for themselves are top 1% elite status growth. This is an honorable goal. But to achieve it you must be dialed in like a top 1% performer.
And most guys just can't do that day in and day out for months on end.

That's why expectations have killed more PE journey's than anything else.
Because once you hit a setback, it feels like failure, and like you didn't get what you deserved. So you quit.

"I didn't get the result I was expecting" really means:
"I didn't get the result I believe I'm entitled to."

The Smarter Path:​


1) Set big goals, seriously, go after your dreams.

2) Be realistic about what it will take to reach those goals and what you are capable of doing.

3) let go of the goal, free yourself of timelines and focus solely on executing of the plan, day in and day out, util you get what you want.

Remember, no matter how amazing you think you are, you're not entitled to gains.

When the gains do come? CONGRATS!

If they don't? Well guess what, you found one thing that didn't work, so it's time to try something else in pursuit of your goal.

As long as you keep showing up, you're goals are possible.
The day you stop is they day they become impossible.
