Male catkins do exist on Betula p.'dalecarlica'

The OrnΓ€s birch is often confused with the similar birches ''Betula pendula'' 'Crispa' and ''Betula pendula'' 'Laciniata', and all three varieties are sometimes sold commercially as "Swedish birch". The genuine OrnΓ€s birch can be distinguished by its growth-form, and in that its leaves are more deeply indented than the other varieties.[/td] [td][/td]

[td]Male flowers are sometimes found-as depicted in 'dalecarlica' grafted by myself, Karl Ernst Haese, from one of my 8 imported trees from Germany's then biggest Nursery, WEENER Baumschule in 1985 and my tree produced copious amounts of seed still in the refridgerator. ,<ref name="gronarader"/> so the OrnΓ€s birch can be propagated from seed, cuttings, or grafting onto normal Betula pendula rootstock.
