The National Olympic Committee-Kenya (NOC-K) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring all athletes are given equal opportunities in the selection process for Team Kenya ahead of the upcoming international assignments such as the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, and other future events.
NOC-K president Shadrack Maluki made the assurance when he met parliamentary sports committee Chair, Dan Wanyama.
βNOC-K is committed to an athlete-centered agenda that prioritizes welfare, training, and opportunities. Working with Parliament enables us to align our goals with national policy, ensuring that sport remains a tool for youth empowerment, health, unity, and economic growth,β said President Shadrack.
The committee aims to identify and nurture talent in the whole country, ensuring no Kenyan athlete is left behind in Kenya sporting journey.
The Chairman of the Parliamentary Sports and Culture Committee, Dan Wanyama, has in the meantime pledged parliament support in collaborating with NOC-K to strengthen the systems and structures necessary to elevate Kenyaβs sports.
βOur committee has a constitutional duty to oversee and support the growth of sport in Kenya, from reviewing legislation to inspecting facilities and monitoring government-funded projects. Partnering with NOC-K allows us to ensure that athletes not only have the structures they need to thrive, but that sport continues to contribute to national unity, youth empowerment, and economic development,β Wanyama said.
