New curriculum for primary and secondary schools just dropped from NERDC

New curriculum for primary and secondary schools just dropped from NERDC. Big changes are coming. This is what you need to know.

The big shift is vocational training. Every JSS student must now choose one trade subject. Every SS student keeps that trade as a core subject. This is mandatory for all students.

The trade options are practical: Solar panel installation and maintenance, Fashion design, Livestock farming, Beauty and cosmetology, Computer and phone repair and Crop production.

Other key changes exist. Digital Technologies is now a core subject from primary 4. Nigerian History and Citizenship Studies are standalone subjects. Students learn these from primary school.

The senior secondary structure is clear. All students take five core subjects. They then specialize in Science, Humanities, or Business. The trade subject remains compulsory for everyone.

This is a direct move to create employable graduates. The goal is clear. It gives every student a practical skill alongside their academic work.

The issue now is implementation (As it's often the case in Nigeria). What are the things you think should be done for a successful implementation.
