Kenyan woman moves to court, accuses musician Samidoh of rape

A Kenyan woman has petitioned the High Court for orders directing investigative and prosecutorial agencies to act on her complaint against popular Kikuyu musician Samuel Muchoki Ndirangu, also known as Samidoh, whom she accuses of raping her while on tour in the United States.

The woman, identified in court filings only by her initials M.R.W., claims that on November 28, 2021, while the singer was staying at an Airbnb in Overland Park, Kansas, he lured her into his home and forced himself on her despite her repeated requests to stop.

In her sworn affidavit, she describes the ordeal as a "horrific sexual offence" committed against her will.

She later reported the incident to the Overland Park Police Department, where it was filed under Case No. 2023022021 and forwarded to the Kansas District Attorney's Office.

However, the case has not yet gone to trial, and no conviction or acquittal has been recorded against the musician..

In her petition, filed under number E569 of 2025, M.R.W. accuses the Inspector-General of Police, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the Director of Public Prosecutions, and the Attorney General of failing to act on her formal complaint lodged in June 2025..

According to her, Section 41 of Kenya's Sexual Offences Act allows Kenyan citizens to be prosecuted for sexual offenses committed abroad as if they occurred within Kenya's borders.

The woman claims she preserved digital evidence of the assault and subsequent interactions with the artist, including audio recordings and electronic messages in which he allegedly insulted and threatened her.

In one exchange, she says he dismissed her attempt to confront him about the assault by calling her a β€œprofessional prostitute.”

She further alleges that between 2021 and 2023, Samidoh maintained manipulative and coercive communication with her, alternating between feigned friendliness and intimidation.

Through her lawyers, Kaaya Memba & Company Advocates, the petitioner is seeking urgent orders directing police to register and investigate her case, preservation of her evidence, and instructions to the Attorney General to initiate mutual legal assistance with U.S. authorities to obtain certified police and prosecutorial records.

She is also asking the court to direct the Witness Protection Agency to assess her risk and offer protection, citing fear of harassment and intimidation.

M.R.W. contends that the state’s inaction has violated her rights under the Constitution, including the right to dignity, equality, freedom and security of the person, fair administrative action, and access to justice.

She insists that unless the court intervenes, she will continue to suffer psychological harm, her preserved digital evidence may be tampered with, and the musician's alleged impunity will go unchecked.

Samidoh, who has not publicly commented on the matter, is listed as an interested party in the petition.
