It really really hurts when he puts it in me

I (F) have had sex multiple times now but every time he puts it in the first time it REALLY hurts. It’s tight and there’s a sharp sharp pain when he tries pushing it in and sometimes even though he’s trying to push it, it just won’t go in. Any idea why this is or how to help it? TIA
