my parents are visiting while i am in a pretty rigorous doctoral program. i didnβt invite them, they told me they took time off and are flying to where i live. theyβre here now, and my mom keeps ragging on me for not making nigerian meals for them (weβve been eating out), and it stresses me out. i donβt even make fresh meals for myself (i cook once or twice a week to meal prep for the week).
we already have a strained relationship (no one in my family is alright) and i just wanted to know what otherβs peopleβs parents ask for them when they visit. i know some of it is normal, but iβm in school and more or less broke. itβs really frustrating that they expect me to have time and energy to plan out the weekend for them when 1. they invited THEMSELVES and 2. i spend most of each weekend sleeping a ton and running errands to recoup from the previous week.
