is NYSC even worth doing?

I just graduated University with a first class degree in ICT. I've been working since 200 level as a developer and i'm currently working as a Fullstack engineer for a startup company. I'm being pressured to start preparations for NYSC but i honestly do not see the point of it. Some of my brothers who are into tech that I've spoken with tell me it's a waste of time.
