Iβve noticed a lot of videos online showing spoiled kids acting out in public while their parents stay calm and gentle with them. The comments are usually split: some people say the first response should be to beat the child, while others argue that hitting kids is abuse and completely wrong.
Most of us Nigerians didnβt grow up like that. We were raised on βspare the rod, spoil the child.β If you messed up, your parents didnβt negotiate, they disciplined you. And a lot of us genuinely believe thatβs what toughened us and shaped us into who we are today.
So hereβs my question: for those who are against beating children, especially when the child is clearly spoiled or acting out, whatβs your alternative? How exactly do you discipline a child in that situation?
