Galana Energies at 25: Fuelling journeys, building futures

CEO of Galana Energies, Anthony Munyasya (centre), with the company’s scholarship beneficiaries and their staff mentors at the Galana Energies Foundation's third annual meeting. This year, the foundation continued its engagement with over.

For a quarter of a century, Galana Energies has been part of Kenya’s everyday life, fueling cars, powering businesses, and keeping the country on the move.

From its early days as Delta to its evolution into Galana Energies, the company has remained steadfast in one belief: that progress is only meaningful when it is shared.

This year, as Galana marks 25 years of operations, the celebration is about more than fuel stations and business growth. It is about the lives touched, the journeys made possible, and the futures being built through the Galana Foundation.

Galana Energies is proudly Kenyan, built by Kenyans for Kenya. Over the years, it has expanded its network across the country, providing reliable fuel and convenience through Breeze shops, lubricants, and LPG. But beyond products and services, Galana’s story is deeply intertwined with the lives of ordinary Kenyans.

Whether it’s a road trip with family, the daily school run, or businesses relying on bulk fuel, Galana has been present for the journeys that shape Kenya.

These are the stories behind the company’s 25-year milestone, a reflection of trust and resilience.

The true measure of success, however, lies not in numbers but in impact. Through the Galana Foundation, the company has dedicated itself to uplifting communities and creating opportunities for young people.

The Foundation’s flagship scholarship programme has already supported over 80 students, focusing on children transitioning into high school.

But it goes further than covering tuition. Mentorship, guidance, and encouragement form a critical part of the journey, helping children see beyond their circumstances.

At this year’s mentorship day, themed β€œPushing Barriers,” Galana CEO Anthony Munyasya shared his own story with the scholars. From starting as an intern at Galana to becoming CEO, his message was simple but powerful: β€œIt doesn’t matter where you start.

What matters is that you start.”

For parents, the scholarships are a lifeline. For mentors, it is a chance to guide and inspire. And for the children, it is a reminder that they are not defined by where they come from, but by what they believe about themselves.

One mentee captured the spirit of the day when they said: β€œI now know I belong in every room where dreams are made and futures are decided.”

This is the essence of the Galana Foundation. It fuels more than cars; it fuels dreams. It ensures that the company’s 25-year journey is not just about past achievements but about the future of Kenya’s next generation.

As Galana Energies looks to the future, its promise is clear: to keep Kenya moving, both on the road and in life. The Foundation will continue to expand, supporting more students, empowering families, and building a stronger nation.

Because in the end, 25 years is not just about longevity, it is about legacy, and Galana’s legacy is one of journeys fueled, futures ignited, and dreams made possible.
