Prince Andrew was forced to live under a different royal roof than nephew Prince William during the British royal familyโ€™s annual summer gathering at King Charles IIIโ€™s Balmoral estate in Scotland, Knewz.com can reveal. The move came as Andrew braced for fresh scrutiny over his friendship with the late disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein due to the upcoming release of alleged Epstein victim Virginia Giuffreโ€™s posthumous memoir, which details her account of being trafficked by the predator.

The living arrangements

The disgraced Duke of York traveled to Aberdeenshire, Scotland, with his former wife, Sarah Ferguson, to join his brother, the king, for the royal familyโ€™s traditional holiday. But instead of staying with other senior royals, Andrew and Fergie were housed at Craigowan Lodge, a seven-bedroom residence on the estate once favored by the late Queen Elizabeth II. William, the Prince of Wales, is said to โ€œdetestโ€ the Duke of York because of the Epstein scandal. โ€œThe Balmoral living arrangement is very deliberate. William wants nothing to do with Andrew in private or public and doesnโ€™t want him anywhere near his wife or young kids,โ€ said a royal source. The strain between the pair dates back to the scandal surrounding Andrewโ€™s friendship with Epstein, who died in a New York jail cell in 2019. After Giuffre, who died in April at 41, accused Andrew of assaulting her when she was 17, the duke paid millions to settle a civil lawsuit out of court. He has consistently denied any wrongdoing and has maintained that he never met her. But the fallout forced him to step back from public duties almost six years ago โ€” a move William is said to have supported.

The bombshell book

The publication of Giuffreโ€™s memoir, Nobodyโ€™s Girl, on October 21 is expected to reignite scrutiny over the truth about Andrewโ€™s friendship with Epstein. In an email to journalist Amy Wallace sent weeks before her death, Giuffre said, โ€œThe content of this book is crucial, as it aims to shed light on the systemic failures that allow the trafficking of vulnerable individuals across borders.โ€ She added it was her โ€œheartfelt wishโ€ the manuscript be released regardless of her circumstances. Penguin describes her 400-page book as an โ€œunsparing and definitive accountโ€ of her time with Epstein and his now-incarcerated co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell, who in 2022 was sentenced to 20 years in prison for her part in his global trafficking operation. The memoir also details Giuffreโ€™s escape from Epstein at 19 and her later advocacy for trafficking survivors in Australia.

Back in the spotlight

For Andrew, the bookโ€™s release could potentially be โ€œbrutal,โ€ insiders say. โ€œThe duke has tried to keep out of the spotlight, but this book will bring the whole sorry Epstein affair back again. William is a future king and he has been very clear โ€” he does not want the monarchy dragged into any more of Andrewโ€™s messes,โ€ a source close to Andrew said, adding that William also dislikes โ€œthe dukeโ€™s notorious bad manners and temper tantrums and barely sees him as royalty.โ€ Cancer-stricken Charles officially began his three-week Balmoral break with a military ceremony, arriving in his Bentley to inspect a guard of honor and greet tourists in warm weather. He wore his newly designed King Charles III tartan, restricted for royal use.

The royal family is fractured

Insiders say the royal family is torn apart every time Prince Andrewโ€™s scandals resurface. By: MEGA

Insiders say the royal family is โ€œmore fractured than everโ€ โ€” largely due to Andrew. โ€œAndrewโ€™s link to Epstein is one of the most shameful chapters in the royalsโ€™ already very colorful and questionable past. William is desperate to give the monarchy a modern overhaul when he takes the throne from Charles, and he wants Andrew as far away from him as possible,โ€ said an insider. โ€œKeeping Andrew away from him at Balmoral isnโ€™t just about convenience โ€” itโ€™s about protecting the institution and literally stopping these two coming to blows.โ€
