Usernames give you aΒ uniqueΒ t.meΒ linkΒ to your profile that you can post or share anywhere.
If you prefer not to have a username, you can go toΒ Settings > Privacy and Security > Phone NumberΒ to share aΒ t.meΒ link to your profile that uses yourΒ phone number.
