Russia's Putin Has North Korea's "Unconditional Support", Says Kim | N18G Russia's foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, visited North Korea and called on the country's leader, Kim Jong Un, for talks. Kim vowed to support Russia "unconditionally", reported the North Korean media. Kim reportedly said N. Korea backs Russian measures taken to tackle the root cause of the crisis. He also lauded Russian President Vladimir Putin's "outstanding leadership". North Korea sent troops to fight alongside Russian forces in its war against Ukraine and also provided artillery shells and missiles. Troop deployment followed a military deal between Russia and North Korea last year. Lavrov expressed "sincere gratitude to Pyongyang" for its role in Kursk. Lavrov told Kim that Putin "hopes for continued direct contacts", reported Russian media. It added that the talks were held in a "warm, comradely atmosphere". Moscow said the two sides agreed that the West was to blame for growing tension on the Korean peninsula and expressed its "firm support" in Pyongyang's efforts to defend its security.
