RFUEA Grounds, the spiritual home of Kenya's rugby, to host Kabeberi Sevens - Citizen Digital

The 2025 Kabeberi Sevens tournament will be held at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi from September 5 to 7. The event, part of the 2025 National Sevens Circuit, returns to this iconic rugby venue after an earlier plan to relocate the tournament to the Goa Institute of Sports Ground in Pangani.

Earlier this year, host club Mwamba RFC announced a landmark agreement granting them a permanent base at the Goan Institute, effective January 1, 2025. This development marked a new chapter for the club, which had endured three years of venue uncertainty since exiting their historic home at the Nairobi Railway Club.

 The 2025 Kabeberi 7s was initially supposed to be hosted at the Goan Institute, which would have made it the fourth different venue in recent years to host the tournament, following previous editions staged at the Railways Club, Meru Stadium, and RFUEA Grounds.

However, in an official update, Mwamba RFC confirmed the venue change, with the Kabeberi 7s now heading back to the RFUEA Grounds.

Ticket prices have already been announced, with Ksh 400 for advance regular tickets and Ksh 1,000 for advance VIP, available on the club’s website.

The Kabeberi Sevens is one of the most celebrated legs of the National Sevens Circuit, first held in 1986 to honour the late George Mwangi Kabeberi, a founding member of Mwamba RFC. The event continues to draw top talent and massive crowds, with the 2024 edition seeing KCB triumph over Menengai Oilers.

This year’s National Sevens Circuit will begin with the Driftwood Sevens in Mombasa on July 26–27, and conclude with the Dala Sevens in Kisumu on September 13–14, before the season wraps up at the Safari Sevens from October 10–12, with the venue set to be confirmed.
