Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Maldives' capital, Male on Friday (July 25) for a two-day official visit. Upon his arrival, PM Modi received a grand welcome by Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu and other key members of his cabinet. Chants of "Vande Mataram" and "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" resonated as PM Modi landed in Male. During his visit, PM Modi will attend Maldives' 60th independence day as the guest of honour, hold bilateral talks with President Muizzu and exchange multiple MOUs. The Indian prime minister's visit marks a significant reset in ties between New Delhi and Male that soured after pro-China President Muizzu took office in 2023.
