PM Modi Hails Ancestral Ties of Trinidad & Tobago PM Kamla Persad-Bissessar To "Bihar | N18G India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to Trinidad and Tobago from July 3 to 4. He was welcomed by the country’s Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and her cabinet, who were dressed in Indian attire at the airport. PM Modi also met the Indian diaspora in the capital, Port of Spain, and addressed a community event. There, he announced a new policy stating that citizens of Indian origin in Trinidad and Tobago, up to the sixth generation, will be eligible for Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) cards. He also referred to PM Persad-Bissessar as the “daughter of Bihar.” PM Modi attended a dinner hosted by his counterpart, where he presented her with a replica of the Ayodhya temple along with holy water from the Saryu River. PM Modi will also meet President Christine Kangaloo and hold a bilateral meeting with PM Persad-Bissessar. In addition, PM Modi will be conferred with the Order of Trinidad and Tobago, the country’s highest honour.
