LIVE | Iranian President Pezeshkian: Israel Tried to Assassinate Me During 12-Day Iran Israel War Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian claimed that Israel attempted to assassinate him during the 12-day war between the two West Asian nations. In an interview with American talk show host Tucker Carlson, Pezeshkian said that Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu-led forces tried to kill him but failed. “They did try, yes. They acted accordingly, but they failed. It was not the United States that was behind the attempt on my life. It was Israel," he said. Earlier, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said in a media interview that his country wanted to kill Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei. "We wanted to eliminate Khamenei, but there was no operational opportunity," Katz said. He further refuted the reports claiming that Washington had vetoed the Israeli plan to eliminate Khamenei.
