US President Donald Trump has reiterated his claims about mediation between India and Pakistan, asserting that “he stopped the war” between the two nations. While addressing the Republican members of Congress, Trump claimed that five jets were shot down in May when tensions escalated between the nuclear-armed neighbours. "We have stopped wars between India and Pakistan. They were probably going to end up in a nuclear war. They shot down five planes in the last attack," the US President said. Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is scheduled to visit Washington, D.C., to meet with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. At the United Nations, India rebuked Dar's statement on Indus Waters Treaty suspension, calling out Pakistan for supporting terrorism. In a relief to India, the U.S. designated Pakistan-based TRF as a terror entity. Affiliated to another terror group, LeT, TRF took the responsibility of the deadly attack, only to retract its statement. In India, opposition parties targeted the ruling party over the trade deal with the US. They also questioned Trump's claims around mediation between India and Pakistan.
