Veteran media personality Sheila Kwamboka, popularly known as Kwambox, has come forward to address ongoing rumours about her sexual orientation following controversial claims made by former radio host Andrew Kibe. The outspoken ex-Kiss FM presenter clarified her stance after Kibe accused her of pushing a “lesbian agenda,” prompting Kwambox to set the record straight in a candid podcast appearance.

Kwambox recounted how Kibe began attacking her online shortly after she joined Kiss FM. She was stunned by his comments, especially because she had never interacted with or followed his content. “When I joined Kiss, Kibe started attacking me, saying, ‘This lady has been sent here to bring the lesbian agenda.’ I was taken aback because I didn’t even know who he was. People were tagging me, and honestly, it felt unnecessary,” she said during a podcast episode aired on July 14, 2025. She also revealed that Kibe had once wanted her to appear on his podcast when she was still working at Vybez Radio, but she turned down the request, stating that their values didn’t align.

Addressing the speculation about her identity, Kwambox explained that conversations about her sexual fluidity are not new and have been part of her public story since her appearance on Big Brother Africa in 2010. She noted that many Gen Z fans might not be aware of her past, which has led to confusion about her stance today. “Those who have followed me since my Big Brother days know exactly who I am. I’ve never hidden any aspect of my identity. I think it’s a Gen Z thing; they’re the ones who don’t know me. I’m on my third wave of fans now; the OG supporters understand,” she said.

Kwambox further elaborated that her sexual orientation has been openly discussed in the past and that she has never tried to hide it. “My sexuality was one of the most talked-about topics back when I was on Big Brother, and I made it clear that I am fluid. It’s not a secret, and I’ve talked about it many times. Lately, though, some people seem to want to use it against me, but honestly, that’s their issue, not mine.”

When speaking about her love life, Kwambox revealed that her last four romantic relationships have all been with men. “My past four relationships have been with guys; it has been a nice balance,” she added, giving a glimpse into her personal journey and the choices she’s made over the years.

Kwambox’s recent statements come shortly after her emotional final show on Kiss FM, where she bid farewell to fans and colleagues in a tearful goodbye. Having joined the station in 2023, she became a household name on the morning show. As she signed off, her co-host Kerry Martin praised her dedication and recalled their 13-year-long journey together in the media industry.

By speaking out, Kwambox hopes to put an end to unnecessary speculation and remind the public that her identity has never been a secret. Her message is clear: she stands by her truth, past and present, and she’s not letting public opinion shake her sense of self.
