Through their lawyer Cecil Miller, the two leaders said they had learned via social media reports that a formal complaint had been lodged against them at the LSK.
“We have been retained to represent the Deputy President H.E. Prof. Kithure Abraham Kindiki and Hon. Onesmus Kipchumba Murkomen with instructions to write to you... Kindly provide us with copies of the complaint…” reads part of the letter addressed to the LSK.
Miller has now asked lawyers’ body to provide official copies of the complaint to enable them to take appropriate steps to safeguard their clients' interests.
In June, Nairobi-based advocate Kepha Ojijo filed a motion seeking the removal of Kindiki and Murkomen from the Roll of Advocates, citing their alleged role in state violence during protests.
Ojijo accused the two of gross misconduct and violations of the Advocates’ Code of Conduct during their tenure as Cabinet Secretaries in charge of Interior and National Administration.
He argues that the two, while serving in powerful security dockets, presided over police operations that led to deaths, injuries, abductions, and disappearances of young protesters during the nationwide Gen Z demonstrations in 2024 and 2025.
