In 2010, a [[laboratory]] is set up on the island of Ile Saint-Hubert in the [[Atlantic Ocean]], to create transgenetic mutated dinosaurs. One of these creations, a deformed six-limbed [[tyrannosaur]] dubbed "''Distortus rex''" escapes containment and wreaks havoc in the year mentioned before, forcing the facility personnel to abandon the island.

Zora Bennett, a former ex-military [[covert operative]], is recruited by Martin Krebs of ParkerGenix, a [[pharmaceutical company]], to collaborate with [[paleontologist]] Dr. Henry Loomis and team leader Duncan Kincaid on a top-secret mission to Ile Saint-Hubert, now protected from travel, to retrieve [[biomaterial]] samples from the largest remaining prehistoric specimens, which hold the key to development of a medical drug capable of helping humanity. In a bar in [[Suriname]], Zora is introduced to her team: boat driver Leclerc; mercenary, Nina; and the chief of security on ''The Essex'', Bobby Atwater.
