Kenyan actress Jackie Matubia has broken her silence on the real reasons behind her painful split from fellow actor and baby daddy, Blessing Lung’aho. In a deeply emotional and candid interview, Jackie detailed how she carried the weight of their relationship alone—financially, emotionally, and as a parent.
Jackie revealed that from the start of her second pregnancy, the signs were already there. She described feeling overwhelmed and unsure when she found out she was pregnant with her second daughter, Zendaya. At the time, she wasn’t ready to become a mother again and even considered terminating the pregnancy. However, after a heart-to-heart with her mother, who encouraged her to trust in God’s provision, she decided to keep the baby.
Blessing, she said, convinced her to go through with the pregnancy despite his unstable financial situation. The couple decided to move in together in hopes of managing their strained finances. According to Jackie, Blessing moved into her house under the agreement that he would cover the rent while she took care of everything else. She was even willing to use her brand and influence to help build his presence on social media, hoping they could grow together.
But things didn’t go as planned.
During her pregnancy, Jackie started noticing red flags. She claims Blessing would lie about not getting paid for gigs, even those that were visibly successful. Living under the same roof, it became harder for her to ignore the inconsistencies in his stories. The actress said the turning point came when she was in the labour room—alone. That moment of solitude was the first hint that she was about to become a single mother in more ways than one.
After giving birth, Jackie returned home only to face more disappointment. She said Blessing’s lack of support became unbearable. From asking for money to refill the cooking gas to failing to contribute to household needs, the burden was all on her. At one point, she realised if she didn’t send money, her firstborn child would sleep hungry.
Jackie was clear—it wasn’t about the money. It was about his unwillingness to care. What broke her spirit was recognising that he simply did not prioritize her or the children. She reflected on how she had clung to the hope that things would improve, but eventually, she accepted that she was the only one invested in their family’s future.
Rumours had long swirled that Jackie had kicked Blessing out of her house, and while she didn’t confirm that directly, her account suggests she reached a breaking point and called it quits. She now says she feels lighter and more focused after walking away from a relationship that left her emotionally drained.
The story has sparked widespread reaction online, with many fans praising Jackie for her strength and vulnerability. Her openness about financial imbalance, emotional neglect, and being a solo parent even while in a relationship resonates with many women who’ve faced similar struggles.
Jackie’s journey is one of rediscovery, courage, and learning to choose peace over pretense. By sharing her truth, she continues to inspire others to walk away from relationships that no longer serve their wellbeing, no matter how public or painful the decision may be.
