India: Chinese Firecracker Smuggling Busted, Rs 35 Cr Consignment Seized | Subscribe to Firstpost The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has struck a major blow against the illegal trade of Chinese firecrackers in India. In an operation named "Operation Fire Trail", the department seized huge quantities of Chinese firecrackers, valued at approximately Rupees 35 crore, or $4.07 million. The firecrackers were found concealed in seven containers and were bound for or already located at major ports in India: Nhava Sheva Port, Mundra Port, and Kandla Special Economic Zone (SEZ). The contraband, weighing approximately 100 tonnes, was imported under the name of a KASEZ unit and various IEC (Importer Exporter Code) holders.
