India-China Ties: Jaishankar Meets President Xi Jinping, With Message From PM Modi | Spotlight | N18G  India-China relations: External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar in Beijing held high-level talks with the Chinese leadership, including with President Xi Jinping, at the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation foreign ministers' meet. Marking a cautious thaw in relations since the 2020 Galwan Valley clashes, Jaishankar also met his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi to discuss progress toward stabilising ties. Jaishankar said that peace and tranquility along the Line of Actual Control remain foundational for strategic trust, but stressed more work is needed on unresolved border issues. Jaishankar urged a "far-seeing approach" and called for avoiding escalation or conflict. The talks included a conclusion to the previously agreed-upon moves to resume direct flights, revive the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage, and enhance cooperation on trans-border rivers through data sharing.
