Dr. Wandera started his career as mathematics teacher at Maseno Secondary school for one year, joined NASA Ames Research centre Moffett field, California as post doctoral Research associate in 1977,He is also a [[lecturer]] in Department of Mathematics at the [[university of Nairobi]] Kenya where he got promoted to senior lecturer in 1986 , He became associated professor in 1987 he then finally become a professor in 1991 all in department of mathematics. He also served as a chairman of the department of mathematics,then served as Dean faculty of science in (1995-2000) all at University of Nairobi, Kenya .
