Air India flight AI171, which crashed on June 12, 2025, in Ahmedabad, India, shortly after takeoff. The flight had 242 people on board, with 241 fatalities. Among the fatalities was a family that had earlier taken a selfie after boarding, identified as Dr. Komi Vyas, Dr. Prateek Joshi, and their three children, relocating to London.
The sole survivor of Air India flight AI171, which crashed on June 12, 2025, is reportedly Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, a 40-year-old British national of Indian origin. He was seated in 11A, near an emergency exit, which may have aided his escape. Ramesh sustained injuries but is under treatment and out of danger at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital.
