Teenager [[Tina Gray (A Nightmare on Elm Street)|Tina Gray]] awakens from a terrifying nightmare in which a hideously disfigured man wearing a red and green striped sweater and a bladed glove attacks her in a dark boiler room. Her mother points out the mysterious slashes on her nightgown. The following morning, Tina's best friend [[Nancy Thompson (A Nightmare on Elm Street)|Nancy Thompson]] and Nancy's boyfriend, Glen Lantz, divulge that they too had nightmares about the same disfigured man. During a sleepover at Tina's house, Tina's boyfriend, Rod Lane, arrives, and they have sex.
